What is 714 Joy?
714 Joy is a vision given by God, to create a home for His people that are often forgotten, undervalued and outcasts. A place where people of all abilities can live together in mutually beneficial relationships rooted in love, generosity, and grace.
So we cared for you. Because we love you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.

Why 714 Joy?
Sarah and I met 7 years ago at Carmel High School. I wish I could say our friendship was instantaneous but it was not. Sarah was shy and slow to trust people, and I came on a little strong. As Sarah and I were paired together in a cooking class we began to warm up to each other, and began texting every night at 7:14PM exactly. This routine continued on for 5 years. Our friendship blossomed and grew deeper. We supported and encouraged each other to live our best lives. We now live together in an apartment where we can tackle life together. Our friendship is uncommon because Sarah has Down Syndrome. While some people may find Sarah’s disability a barrier in a relationship, we do not. We see it as a blessing that allows us to be closer and care for each other better. We have a desire to build a community for our friends. A community that supports people of all abilities and carries them to the feet of Jesus. A place where friendships like ours do not stand out but are the norm.

How Your Support Helps
With your support our young adults are learning skills they will need to live independently. They are learning to cook, clean, manage money and time, and maintain meaningful relationships. Training now for living independently will ensure a smooth transition when our community is built.
